Having the opportunity to job shadow a person who is currently in the position in the field of one of my interest careers was a great experience. I job shadowed a kindergarten teacher. Her name is Mrs. Peters she was my little brothers teacher when he was younger, she is currently working at washington elementary here in lindsay. The job shadow took place on december 11, 2014. I job shadowed her because my second option, then Registered Nursing is teaching. Teaching young kids and giving them the ability to learn new things and feel inspired by someone is something I like to do. I specifically chose to job shadow her because since I already knew her I was going to feel more comfortable to be there helping and asking all these questions I had.
During the job shadow i got to witness how she got her class started. I watched her teach the first part of class. During the season i went it was christmas so we did a lot of arts and crafts in a rotation called centers. Throughout the centers I was able to help students when they needed help. Also i got to experience the christmas talent shows like the songs I use to do along time ago. For example “Rudolph the rednose reindeer” or “Jingle Bells”
I learned a lot this day. I also learned that the keywords for this field is to be comprehensive and patient. I also liked how during these different seasons, Holidays there are many different activities to do. what i disliked is that there are some kids who are really mean but i know they have a big heart.
After experiencing this opportunity i would still be interested in this job. I realized that it’s not easy as i thought but it isn’t impossible. I want to bring learning alive and for it to be fundamental.
